Most of my life I knew what I wanted to do—probably by age 8. I wanted a creative outlet that would let me take something small and build something big.
At the Sam Fox School, you have many paths open; you’re able to try everything. It’s a collaborative community of shared ideas and perspectives. There’s an emphasis from the beginning on the importance of speaking up in critiques. The opinions of other students are really valued: We learn from each other.
Our professors are incredibly approachable and generous with their time. They’re in regular contact with us: They stop by the studios, and even invite us to their homes. They’ve very interested in the general well-being of the students, and realize that how students are doing outside of the studio is linked to their work in the studio.
