Ian Caine

Biography 

Ian Caine holds a B.A. in Political Science and M.Arch from Washington University, where he received the A.I.A. Scholastic Medal & Certificate of Merit upon graduation from the School of Architecture. Caine has practiced professionally since 1998, gaining significant experience in a wide range of project types including performing arts, religious, academic, laboratory, corporate, infrastructure, planning, and housing. He has designed and contributed to a number of A.I.A. award-winning projects including the Living Wall Project, Moolah Parking Structure, and New City School Cafeteria. In 2009 he co-designed one of six first-place entries in the Rising Tides Competition in San Francisco. The winning proposals were selected from a field of 131 entries and recently went on display at the San Francisco Planning + Urban Research Association (SPUR). Caine's design and drawings have been featured in publications such as Metropolis, Diseno Interior, Terrain, and the San Francisco Chronicle. He currently lectures at the Sam Fox School for Design & Visual Arts in Saint Louis. Caine's teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate design studios, architectural representation, and buildings systems labs that focus on tectonic development and material assembly.
